Okay trying to get ahead of a few custom caricatures. Here is the latest. A Lancair Legacy named Spirit of America. Race 21 recently finished second in the Silver final at the Reno Air Races with a speed of 291 and change. Just this week on the way home from another air race, pilot Alan Crawford experienced an in-flight fire and had to put her down in a field. The aircraft was a total lose and Alan suffered serious burns. Thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family for a quick recovery.

Have not done a Spitfire in awhile so I thought I would do a few more. Here is the Speed Spitfire, N.17 that was prepared with an eye toward the speed record. She never made an attempt on the record because the German’s pushed the bar very high with their Me-209. Look for a Griffon powered Spit next.

Okay just finished up a special print for the Planes of Fame annual Taste Of Flight fund raiser. Both Strega and Voodoo will be attending this years event so I just had to do my version of “The Finish” at this years Reno AIr Races… Saturday’s Gold Heat. Hope you like it.

I look forward to the Reno air racers every year. This year had some of the best racing, records were broken, and champions crowned. Sadly we lost one of the major players in the sport early in the week. One of my favorite sport class planes was the GP-5, an up and coming very promising sport class aircraft. I did a caricature of her last year and was looking for her to do really well this year. Leading up to race week I had started to do a different sort of art work. Something other than my usual side views and the GP -5 was the subject. Drawing from some fantastic air to air photos by Tyson Rininger and taking a page from a fellow artist, Ron Cole, I decided to finish this art work while I watched the live feed from this weeks races. So as a tribute to a fine racer… Blue Skies always….

Here’s is the latest from the Blackheartart collection. My nephew is making his way through ATP and flying the Piper Seminole. Had to do a caricature of one of the many Seminoles. Still need to do one with a background but here is the basic caricature. This bird is heavy one raise rivets….. and I added all of them. Hope you like it. I plan on doing a version with gear down and maybe a panel or to off. Stay tuned.
