Ukrainian SU-27 Flanker and more.

Hey everyone. It has been months since the last update and I apologize. I have been working on a few secret projects that once I can divulge I will. But for now I have added a few new P-40B caricatures, one from the Flying Tigers, flown by Tex Hill, one from the RAF with Australian pilot Caldwell, and Ken Taylor’s Pearl Harbor P-40, I also have added a print with Taylor’s P-40 and a Zero he shot down on Dec. 7th. I also added a P-36 flown by Rassmussen on Dec. 7th and a print of the P-36 and the Val he shot down.

In preperation for the Pearl Harbor prints I did this year I also did a Val caricature.

Next up is a new SU-27 Flanker in Ukrainian markings. Plus a special grey wolf print.

Lastly I have finally finished the Balao Class Submarine Pampanito. This caricature I have had on the drawing board for some time and finally finished it. Once I finished the USS Pampanito I had to do the USS Sea Tiger from the movie Operation Petticoat and the USS, Stringray from the movie Down Periscope.

I also added a new KC-135 caricature this time 3/4 view. This KC is from the 100th ARW.

I think that about covers all the new stuff. Keep checking back I promise to update more often.

Something New- Garden Flags

Hey everyone,

We are trying out a few companies that can do Garden flags. I have tried three so far, two are very similar and one is a it more heavy weight. I like the to lighter ones best. If anyone is interested just let me know. So far I have thought of using the air racers on the examples, but could design others, The Vintage racing style posters I created work perfectly. Flags are 12″x18″, This one is proudly hanging in my front yard.

Just Lucky

New Air racer finished as Reno 2021 approaches. Here is my second entry in the Jet Class, the 2019 National Champion, Just Lucky a L-29 Delfin flow by Pete Zacccagnino. Pete Qualified the Delfin second at 510.304 behind the Vampire, Dark Shadow. In Heat 1A Just Lucky was second with a speed of 489.439 again behind Dark Shadow. The next day in Heat 2A Pete took the checkered flag at a speed of 510.411. Sunday in the Gold Final race Pete and Just Lucky was just that taking the checkered flag in first at a winning speed of 495.106. I hope to be doing a few more Jet class racers very soon.

That’s about it for now. Look forward to more Glasiar racers after I finish up a few commissions and a poster for one of the T-6 race teams.

Lancair Racer and new Corsair caricature

Hello again. Just added a new air racing caricature, a Lancair Legacy from the sport class, Modo Mio, raced by Vince Walker. Modo Mio had a good Reno in 2019 qualifying 13th, at 289.157, with a best finish of 1st in heat 3B with a speed of 320.092mph and then finishing 5th in the gold final at 3311.492. Well Done Vince and crew. A very colorful racer. Just love the Lancair Legacy lines. Seem to be a perfect racing air frame.

Wildcat F4F fine art

Today we add a new art work, well actually a couple new art works. I have wanted to do some color pencil art for awhile now so using a picture I took at the Planes of Fame airshow as a guide, I created a early war F4F Wildcat fighter art work. For the first time I used under-painting techniques using Prismacolor markers to set up some dark tones on the gray toned paper before starting to lay in the color with Prismacolor pencils. I must admit the first attempts was fun and showed promise, but was not happy with the overall results so I tried it again. I took the opportunity to correct some inaccuracies in the markings. I also used more under painting to get a more uniform look. Still the basic colors were good but hardly as accurate As I would like. I will give it one more go with a slate gray pencil and a bit more under painting. I figure after three tries I should have it down, I hope.

After working on the pencil versions I used the basic drawing and the line work I applied the same techniques I use on my other caricatures and created a triple threat. One with basic cloud background, one with a more mono tone sky and one that looks like a drawing on gray toned paper with a shadow as if the Wildcat is skimming the work surface. Let me know what you think. You can find them all in the fine art section.

Another new caricature was added to the propeller fighters. I created a similar pose I used for the Wildcat, but did it with a Mitsubishi Zero caricature. Again with a cloud background and one skimming the gray tones paper. Very soon I will be doing this in color pencils like the Wildcat. I may even do a gray version as well as the OD green you see here. Check out the Propeller section for the other version.

Black Widow

Hey everyone we finally added some art. When I first started doing these caricatures I was using color pencil and then moved on to water color and then airbrushing before going to computer art. One of the first aircraft I did was the P-61 Black Widow, one of my favorite aircraft of WWII. Well I finally revisited the old caricature and updated it using the same techniques I have been using for the last several years. “Lady in the Dark{, one of the most famous Widows and an OD and Gray P-61, “Nocturnal Nemesis” from the 421st NFS, Check them out in the Fighter/Propeller section.

P-61 Black Widow Lady in the Dark.

Also new is a civilian version of the DC-9 caricature I did a few years ago. In fact I have added 4 different paint schemes. Two for KLM, one TWA and a northwest Air version. Besides the DC-9 I recently finished a commission for a past client the Cargo B777 in Kallitta Air colors.

Finally I added a new F-100 commission.

Neptune’s Trident

Merry Christmas everyone. Hope you all had a great holiday. First up today is a new caricature the Lockheed P2V Neptune. This caricature has been one I have wanted to do for many years. May dad served with VP-1 and worked on the Neptune. He even flew a few patrols while VP-1 was deployed to Okinawa. So I finally finished my first P2V caricature. The put together a special print with pictures of my dad while he was in the Navy. So this is one of those special prints. Coming soon for a client will be a follow up P2V this time a P2V-7. He wants to honor his father as well. So look for it soon. Just need to finish small details and it will be ready.

Next up today is another commission. This one we completed several months ago and was a Christmas present for the clients husband. Another RV-8 painted like a F4U Corsair in the US Navy Tri blue scheme. Follow up picture shows proud RV=8 owner standing next to his aircraft print in hand. Thanks again and glad he liked the print. A side note the client found us becasue of the sponsor logo we had on Sam Swifts biplane Hot Stuff at this years Reno air races. So much thanks again the Swift racing.

That about does it for new art we have completed, but there is lots of new stuff coming soon. (new 777-300F, P-61 Black Widow, new racers especially sport class, and a few much more.)

New Air Racing Prints

Hey Everyone, Happy Holidays. Thanksgiving has past and we are on the home stretch for the Christmas season and the end of the year. Something everyone is hoping to lead to a better new year. Okay today we add two new racing prints. I have combined a couple racers into a combo prints showing close up Air Racing.

The first print I call Power Sport. It combines the two powerhouse racers in the Sport class, a Super Glasair II, Race 39 flown by Jeff LaVelle, a multiple National Champion and One Moment, a Super Legacy Lancair flown by Andrew Findlay. One Moment has the distinction of braking the 400 MPH mark for the class. This would put her in the mid to upper level of the Unlimited class. Quite impressive for a home built racer powered by a 6 cylinder race engine. The Sport Class is probably the future of air racing. Reno Sport Class.

One Moment and Race 39 Reno Air races. Sport Class Air racing

The next new print combines to rivals in the T-6 class. Miss Ellaneous and Miss Humboldt Hunny. Miss Ellaneous is an SNJ, raced by Bill Muszala, while Miss Humbolt Hunny, race 73, is a T-6G. Both of these aircraft seem to battle all week finishing either one two in their heat races. Sometime trading places at the finish. Miss Humboldt Hunny flown by Ralph Rina finished the 2019 races winning the Bronze race. Just a reminder I have individual prints of all these aircraft available in the racer section of this web site.
