The first ever Blackheart Art caricature calendars have been ordered. We ordered a limited number of wall calendars and Desk Top Calendars to gauge the interest. If we sell these out then the plan will be to do another one next year or two next year in larger numbers. The wall calendars are made with heavy card stock with glossy image pages. So order now and when they arrive we will process your order. Remember these are limited.
Here are a couple of RV-8 Sport Class racers from this years Reno Air Races. I think the Sport Class will be the class (with F1 a close second) that will keep Air Racing going well into the future. The warbirds that everyone loves are just to rare these days and to costly to race regularly. I still love the unlimited class but time is the enemy of the big iron.
Here are a few new Hornet caricatures I put together recently.
First up is the opposing solos from the Blue Angels exciting the crowd. (editors note: yes the Solo’s should not have an apostrophe and it has been fixed on the prints)
Also I put together this in memory of the Blues Solos pilot lost earlier this year while practicing for an Air Show.
And finally this one together the other day. VMFA (AW) 121 Green Knights F/A-18 Hornets on patrol. The G Knights now fly the new F-35
Last year we offered a round clear Christmas ornament with small caricature image inside. The image is two sided and can have either Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas on the image. We have a small amount available. $10 plus shipping. Just email us to order your favorite caricature, to hang on your tree this year. The Voodoo/ Strega ornament is for those with allegiance to both teams… or you live in a house divided. BHA
Hey everyone, Hope your Thanksgiving was just as great as mine. Well I have decided to try making a calendar. here is a sample and it will be up to you if we go forward with it. This is a sample to gauge interest. The more people are interested and want to order will determine the final cost. The more I can order the lower the cost will be. So let me know what you think and if you would like one. We have a regular size wall calendar and a desk top version. BHA
Every now and then I add a bit of character to my caricatures. In this case I had a possible client ask about doing a Corsair with more character. This was the result. While the customer like the art work it was not what he was looking for, This has sat on the back burner for some time now. I happen to share it on FB and it seemed to get a lot of likes so here it is the Angry Corsair. If there is enough interest i will see about adding more of these to the collection.
While putting the finishing touches on a few new caricature commission, I put together a few new racers from this years Reno Air Races. First is a Formula 1 racer i had been working on for awhile. Pooder, a Cassut III, race 20. I really like the paint scheme for this little racer.
Next up is another on the diminutive Unlimited field from this years Reno Air races. Race 12, The Rebel. I also have a regular proportioned side profile coming very soon. Just need to work on the name on the nose and small details.
And finally the first in a series I hope to put together called the Podium series. It will all depend on how much time I can squeeze in between commissions and other projects. Here is the first Podium… the Unlimiteds from 2016 Reno Air Races. Voodoo took the gold, Czech Mate, took second, and Dreadnought took third. Next up most likely will be T-6 class. I already have the third place finisher ( winner from last year) Midnight Miss, so just need to modify any slight changes in sponsor markings. Last night worked on the winner, Baron’s Revenge. (If anyone has pictures of the right side it would be very helpful.)So I will only need one more. Someone asked for Formula 1 and I will have to do two completely new caricatures to get that podium complete, the winner and third place aircraft. So look for the next one in the series soon.
Well Reno National Championship Air Racers have come and gone. Still going through withdrawal. Love the races and lets hope we can make it up there next year and do a booth. In the mean time I have been finishing up a few caricatures and doing some repaints to a couple of my regular profiles. First up is a commission I recently did for a client. The DC-3 Clipper Tabitha May. Love this look of this beautiful aircraft.
Next up is a couple of racers from the recent Reno Air races. Sparky and Wee Willy II. We Willy is part of the Planes of Fame and I had done a profile of this bird awhile back, so took this time to modify the paint scheme to reflect the markings she wore at the racers this year.
Next was another regular profile of Sparky. the air racer I did a few years ago as a caricature. This time she is wearing a new paint scheme for 2016. Sparky on one side and Blondie on the other. And with the completed regular profile I had to repaint the caricature to match the new scheme.
That about does it for this update. I hope to be doing more racers soon. If you don’t see you favorite racer just let me know. We love working on commissions.
