Shoestring, Wagner’s Solution, Breaking Wind and more racers.

Hello everyone, Today we add 4 new air racers, two from the F1 class and the early days of Reno and two new Sport class.

First up is Shoestring the world beater and grand champion in the f 1 class raced by Ray Cote. Ray won many championships in Shoestring and later a couple in the next racer Wagner’s Solution. The Solution was racer by Judy Wagner in an attempt to wrestle the championship from Ray.

The two new sport racers are Race 33 flown by the great Daryl Greenamyer, another master racer and multiple champion in both Unlimited and Sport Class. Finally Breaking Wind a colorful Glasair III that raced in 2019 and hopefully will be back in 2021.

That’s about it for now. Look forward to more Glasiar racers after I finish up a few commissions and a poster for one of the T-6 race teams.

New Air Racing Prints

Hey Everyone, Happy Holidays. Thanksgiving has past and we are on the home stretch for the Christmas season and the end of the year. Something everyone is hoping to lead to a better new year. Okay today we add two new racing prints. I have combined a couple racers into a combo prints showing close up Air Racing.

The first print I call Power Sport. It combines the two powerhouse racers in the Sport class, a Super Glasair II, Race 39 flown by Jeff LaVelle, a multiple National Champion and One Moment, a Super Legacy Lancair flown by Andrew Findlay. One Moment has the distinction of braking the 400 MPH mark for the class. This would put her in the mid to upper level of the Unlimited class. Quite impressive for a home built racer powered by a 6 cylinder race engine. The Sport Class is probably the future of air racing. Reno Sport Class.

One Moment and Race 39 Reno Air races. Sport Class Air racing

The next new print combines to rivals in the T-6 class. Miss Ellaneous and Miss Humboldt Hunny. Miss Ellaneous is an SNJ, raced by Bill Muszala, while Miss Humbolt Hunny, race 73, is a T-6G. Both of these aircraft seem to battle all week finishing either one two in their heat races. Sometime trading places at the finish. Miss Humboldt Hunny flown by Ralph Rina finished the 2019 races winning the Bronze race. Just a reminder I have individual prints of all these aircraft available in the racer section of this web site.

More Air Racers

While putting the finishing touches on a few new caricature commission, I put together a few new racers from this years Reno Air Races. First is a Formula 1 racer i had been working on for awhile. Pooder, a Cassut III, race 20. I really like the paint scheme for this little racer.

Pooder

Next up is another on the diminutive Unlimited field from this years Reno Air races. Race 12, The Rebel. I also have a regular proportioned side profile coming very soon. Just need to work on the name on the nose and small details.

The Rebel 2016

And finally the first in a series I hope to put together called the Podium series. It will all depend on how much time I can squeeze in between commissions and other projects. Here is the first Podium… the Unlimiteds from 2016 Reno Air Races. Voodoo took the gold, Czech Mate, took second, and Dreadnought took third. Next up most likely will be T-6 class. I already have the third place finisher ( winner from last year) Midnight Miss, so just need to modify any slight changes in sponsor markings. Last night worked on the winner, Baron’s Revenge. (If anyone has pictures of the right side it would be very helpful.)So I will only need one more. Someone asked for Formula 1 and I will have to do two completely new caricatures to  get that podium complete, the winner and third place aircraft. So look for the next one in the series soon.

New Racers and a new DC-3

Well Reno National Championship Air Racers have come and gone. Still going through withdrawal. Love the races and lets hope we can make it up there next year and do a booth.  In the mean time I have been finishing up a few caricatures and doing some repaints to a couple of my regular profiles. First up is a commission I recently did for a client. The DC-3 Clipper Tabitha May. Love this look of this beautiful aircraft.

Next up is a couple of racers from the recent Reno Air races. Sparky and Wee Willy II. We Willy is part of the Planes of Fame and I had done a profile of this bird awhile back, so took this time to modify the paint scheme to reflect the markings she wore at the racers this year.

Next was another regular profile of Sparky. the air racer I did a few years ago as a caricature. This time she is wearing a new paint scheme for 2016. Sparky on one side and Blondie on the other. And with the completed regular profile I had to repaint the caricature to match the new scheme.

That about does it for this update. I hope to be doing more racers soon. If you don’t see you favorite racer just let me know. We love working on commissions.

Happy Fourth of July

Happy Fourth of July to all my customers, friends family and fans. Hope you have a great holiday and enjoy a bit of American BBQ and fun.

Okay for this Fourth OI put together a really cool print with the Blue Angles and Thunderbirds combining to salute to the good old USA. Prints are 12×17 and we can also do prints on Metal in various sizes. judging by the 20×30 sunset print I had done on metal this one will look awesome.

Next up, while I as at it this weekend I I added another Air Racer, this time from the early days of Reno and air racing in the 1960’s The P-51K “Little One” racer by Lyle Shelton. Yes the same Lyle Shelton that flew the Bear to so many Championships. The was his first taste of Air Racing. He flew this Mustang owned by Richard Vartanian. Later this racer would become “Tonopah Miss” and carried race 12, in the 64 and 65 Reno Air Races.
