Thanks to a customer in Japan we can now ad a new tank caricature to the collection. The newest tank in the Japanese arsenal is this Type 10 main battle tank. 120mm smooth bore main gun and armor that can be changed out to suit the situation. This tank is from the 1st Armoured Training Unit, of the Eastern Army Combined Brigade.

If you like the way we create these tank caricatures and would like to see others just drop us a line and let us know what you want to see next. As usual commissions take priority.

Penhall Mustang

Hello everyone

Today we add a new racer to my Air Racer collection. The Leroy Penhall owned and raced P-51D. I loved the color scheme and the recent Mustangs International Magazine included a nice color shot of this wonderful racer. I started by doing my usual caricature version as well as one with a nice cloud background ‘in action’ piece. I then added another regular proportioned side profile to the mix. I am looking to add Seattle Miss the Mustang raced by Ben Hall around the same time as the Penhall Mustang. I am just drawn to those racers.

If anyone has suggestions for future caricatures or is looking for a special art work just drop me a line.

Check out the fighter propeller section to see the new art.

DC-3 / C53 caricature

Hey everyone.

Just finished up a new caricature. This time a local resident at Cable Airport (KCCB). The C53D/DC-3A operated by Aviator Flight Training. This aircraft was built as C-53D serial number 42-68738. She saw action in Sicily and France. In 1945 after returning to US where she was converted to DC-3A standards and flew with TWA as #303 NC86558. In 1949 she was operated by Northeast Airlines and in 1951 flew with United Airlines. From 52 on till early 2000’s  she was then flown by numerous owners until 2013 when Aviator Flight Training bought her and fly her out of Cable Airport.

I want to add a nice background with Cable tower in the backgrounds and a version with the history added. Look for those soon.

New for 2016

Well I hope you all had a great holiday, New Year and Superbowl. I must apologize of my lack of posts and production. The “day job” tends to kick my butt from time to time. That is no excuse just a fact. Fear not I am still working on new stuff and trying to finish up some custom work. (A-7, C-17 F/A-18 etc) I just finished two prints of the same aircraft for a customer who at first wanted the caricature of his warbird, then his wife told him he needed the regular profile to go with it. So we created a completely new art work that was regular proportions. I have to say it was a bit of a struggle as I have been doing the caricatures for so long, the new piece just looked strange. All long and thin. Anyway I think it turned out pretty good. Both art works are of the P-51D Shangrila that was flown by Dominic S. Gentile after he finished his tour with the 4th Fighter Group in England. When he returned to the states he was given a brand new P-51D so he could tour the states on a bond tour. The markings are for the 4th FG and used the same code as his P-51B Shangri-la. We will be doing a few more of the regular profiles (next up Wee Willie from Planes of Fame) and if your interested we can do a custom Mustang for you as well. Just drop us a line.

I also worked up a couple of new F-4 Phantoms, both USMC birds. This time adding some backgrounds.

Okay that about wraps it up for right now. I have a few more plus some images for the first air show of the season, the 2016 Cable Air Show and car show. Dreary day with threatening rain clouds, but some fun stuff to be seen.

Happy Holidays

Voodooorn1Hello and welcome to the Holiday Season at BHA.

Here we unveil a new item we are looking to try out. The Christmas ornament with your favorite caricature inside. The ornament can have two different caricatures or one caricature and a generic holiday greeting such as Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, or Seasons greetings.  Just let us know what you want and we will put it together for you. It is a work in progress that we hope will find it’s way to your tree this year. Here are three examples we put together to tease you. One has both Strega and Voodoo mustang air racers, the other has Santa and the sunset PBY, and the other had a red C-17 with the Dr1 Fokker. But those are just examples. We can get creative and create something special just for you. So let us know.

New art Book cover

Besides doing these wonderful fun caricatures, sometimes I get to do something a bit different. Recently a friend approached me about doing the art for his forthcoming book. He is a sports writer and driving force behind the Mid Valley Sports web site. He recently finished a novel set at a fictional high school and tells the tale of the star QB and wide receiver. As it so happened I just happen to have worked on a few football based art works a few years back while my nephew was playing football at Temple City High School. I was lucky enough to act as the team photographer for a few years and not content to just do the pictures I started playing with creating interesting art works with the pictures. When Joe told me about the subject and premise of his book I immediately thought these art works would be prefect. Joe and I worked out a very cool cover for the book and now that he has posted about it on his web site I can unveil it here as well So here is my first book cover… “Tangent Dreams”, by Joe Torosian. The book will he available from Amazon at the end of November so if you are looking to get a fun book about high school football, check it out. Mid Valley Sports.com

New caricatures Fokker Dr.1

Okay here we go. Finally some new caricatures and just in time for the Christmas rush. I have had several people recently, (and you know who you are) drop subtle hints about having a Fokker Dr1 caricature as part of my collection. I have had a basic sketch of the Dr on paper for some time and it has just been patrolling the back burner as other caricatures have been deployed to the front. Well here it is… the BHA version of the Dr1. And why stop at just one. We have added two (and at least two more waiting in the wings.

First up is Manfred von Richthofen’s DR1 425/17. This version is one of the early paint schemes (a follow up version will be the late white tail in which he was shot down after scoring kills number 79 and 80) and the all red that we all associate with the Baron.

Fokker Dr 1

Next up is the blue and white Dr1 of Lt August Raben of Jasta 18. There are reports and speculation that this aircraft was actually red and white. (I will also have that version for the purists out there) I really like the blue version so that is where I went.

Lt August Raben Dr1

Lastly (at least for this post) we have a fine art version of Manfred von Richthofen’s Dr.1. I have created a print with the “Baron” cruising above the country side looking for his next ‘victim’ and enjoying the calm before the storm. The freedom of flight that all pilots embrace. I might look to put both Dr’s in one print like this so look for that soon.
